Mankind is polluting and destroying their environment in many ways. Ironically, their own survival would depend upon protecting it. After the Industrial Revolution, the scale, spread, diversity, and severity of man-made pollution increased dramatically. The contamination and destruction of nature has left behind unfathomable and strikingly obvious devastation. Will humans still manage to change their disastrous behaviour in time, or will they render themselves extinct by destroying their own source of life? The next few decades will probably tell. Meanwhile, the amount of fossil fuels being burned continues to rise, the volume of greenhouse gases being expelled is further increasing, and rainforests are still being chopped down at a mind-boggingly fast speed.
